Sacramento Marketing Held A Beach Clean Up

Written by Daniel Aceves

Sacramento Marketing Inc. participated in their first beach cleanup this past Monday, July 15th. We took a trip to Redondo Beach together and spent an hour cleaning up all of the trash on the beach. We really value the importance of community service and we are proud to be able to give back to both our community and local environment!

We chose to take part in a beach cleanup because our planet is suffering from trash being washed into our oceans. Plastic waste is the most prevalent and dangerous to our oceans, and it is estimated that there are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in our oceans across the planet. All of this trash is causing birds and sea animals to be caught in plastic nets and rings, and fish are swallowing the smaller pieces of plastic. Not only does the abundance of waste in our oceans affect marine life, it affects us as humans. When plastic breaks down in the ocean, it turns into tiny pieces called microplastics which are carried throughout the globe through the ocean’s currents. It is estimated that more than 14 billion tons of plastic is being dumped into our oceans every year. That’s more than 1.5 million pounds per hour.

We at Sacramento Marketing Inc. knew we had to do our part in helping to resolve this global problem, so we did. We brought our employees and urged them to invite their friends and family to participate in this beach cleanup with us. The event was a success and we plan to continue this service in the future. Christy Shin, an intern with Sacramento Marketing Inc. said, “this only took about an hour, so it was SO easy to do something that makes such a big impact on others as well as the beach.” !

Thank you for taking the time to read about our beach cleanup experience, we hope this inspires you to participate in a beach cleanup and help save our planet!
